Feather and Down is the Swedish artist Maria Andersson. She was born in a small town in the south of Sweden and after lots of moving around she ended up in Stockholm where she’s living today.

During 2008 and 2009 she lived in Macau, China working as a singer with world renowned Cirque du Soleil in the show ZAiA. What finally became Feather and Down is a result of the contrasts of living with a circus in Asia and being in Stockholm working with several different musical projects. The wide contrasts of experiences made a big impact on her and the music that she’s now writing. Armed with a guitar or a piano and a voice that truly gets under your skin Feather and Down will surely cause an unwipeable stain with the debut album The bird’s nest.

The bird’s nest consists of songs written both before and after Maria’s time in China. They’re recorded closely with producer Povel Olsson and guitarist Mattias Fjellström and the album is released by a Japanese record label. The reason for that is the long cooperation Maria has had with Taka Sakano at IRMA Records as a singer and lyric writer for Japanese producers such as Elmio and Sakai Asuka. In these collaborations she is known as Karin Maria Andersson.

In June 2012 the second album Revisits was released. This album consists of songs from the 70′s, 80′s and 90′s. A cover album! Maria worked with producer and guitarist Klas Gullbrand on Revisits.
